Who are we?
Windlass Studios, a division of Atlanta Cutlery Corporation Est. 1971, is the world’s largest manufacturer of historical arms, armor and period clothing. In addition, licensed pieces from the worlds of science fiction, fantasy, history and literature have taken on a major part of both our retail and wholesale business.
Unlike any other company within this category, we have the in-house ability to produce “exacting” replicas of the exciting pieces any genre has to offer. This is mainly due to the fact that we are not only the licensee, but the manufacturer, packager, distributor, marketer and re-seller as well. All of the same master craftsmanship that is put forth in our entire line of licensed properties will be duplicated and expanded upon for our highly anticipated collections.
- Motion Picture prop masters are on-staff consultants with our company. Including Simon Atherton (Braveheart, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven) and Augusto Grassi (Ghengis Khan, Troy, and HBO’s Rome).
- Our manufacturing facilities are ISO 9002 Certified, giving them the highest international production standard.
- We are approved manufacturers for Hasbro, Disney, Wal-Mart, US Dept of Defense, British Ministry of Defence and other high profile companies.
- We are family owned since our establishment in 1943 when we began supplying the British Ministry of Defense with combat knives, which we still do today.
- We have been the largest contractor to the US Marine Corps and other armed forces throughout the world since 1999. These clients demand the highest standards.
- Many large companies throughout the world have used us to manufacture many of their licensed and historical goods for them. Clients include: Master Replicas, United Cutlery, Factory X, Professional Cutlery Services, International Military Antiques, Noble Collection and others.
- We have also supplied props to many top television & motion picture productions with our weapons, armor and costumes including: The History & Discovery Channel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Highlander: The TV Series, HBO Pictures’ Rome, Warner Bros. V for Vendetta, and Batman Begins to name a few.
- Our clothing/costume division produces items for such large national retailers as Wal-Mart, JC Penny’s and The Gap as well as Broadway and opera productions.
