Anthony Stark is one of the richest men in the world. While on business in Vietnam, he is injured and taken prisoner. During his captivity, he creates a powered suit of armor equipped with heavy offensive weaponry, which also contains a pacemaker like device. After his escape, he continually modifies and refines his armor, battling for world peace and becomes known to the world as Iron Man. He also becomes the founding member of the team of super human champions known as The Avengers.
